Review of Southern Star Tattoo

Southern Star Tattoo: A Mixed Bag of Reviews

Southern Star Tattoo is a tattoo shop located on Ponce De Leon Ave NE in Atlanta, Georgia. The shop offers a wide range of tattoo services and has a team of experienced artists. However, the reviews of the shop are mixed, with some customers having a great experience while others had a terrible one.

On the positive side, some customers praised the professionalism and friendliness of the staff. The shop is also described as walk-in friendly, which is convenient for those who want to get a tattoo without an appointment. Some customers also mentioned that the shop is clean and well-maintained.

On the negative side, some customers had issues with the quality of the tattoos they received. Some customers complained about the artists going too deep with the needle, causing tattoo blowout and smudging. Others complained about the lack of communication with the artists and the desk attendant acting as a middleman. Some customers also mentioned that the shop is not experienced in tattooing on darker skin tones.

Despite the mixed reviews, Southern Star Tattoo has a loyal customer base and some customers have returned for multiple tattoos. However, it is important to do your research and read reviews before choosing a tattoo shop.

Great Shop Good Service

Great shop. We're new to the area so it's always a gamble on a new ink spot but we were not disappointed. Both Andrews did great work for my wife and I. We're definitely coming back.

Once Andrew did the first tattoo a year ago, I knew I would come back for more. Now 8 tattoos later, including a back piece and I am hoping to get more ink from Andrew. And I live 450 miles away and the trips down to get ink have all been worth it.

The man who "helped" us at the front desk was very unprofessional. when my friend asked if someone could draw up her idea he said that they don't do that. apareantly you have to have something they can print and trace which i feel like is ridiculous. most people go into atlanta to get good professional tattoos and if that is what you're looking for do not come here. if i knew we were going to get this kind of service we would've gone to a low budget shop in the suburbs.

This shop was great!! Morgan Russel did my tattoo and I could not be more pleased with how it turned out. He is an incredible artist, and the shop was great too! I strongly reccomend asking for Morgan!

I called ahead the day after mother's day asking about getting my mother's name. Only 4 letters, simple script, done rather small. Was told $50-$60. Simple and easy.

I drive all the way in town and after the stencil was done (barely 2") I get told $150 due to "location". Yeah, horse squeeze, no other artist I spoke with in metro Atlanta said they'd triple the price purely over where it's going.

I'm sure their artist are skilled, but still a bunch of bait and switch hustlers who no doubt tried to capitalize on the fact I wanted my mother's name on mother's day.

Avoid these scam artist. Tons of skilled artist who care about their art more than scamming for people they Hawkeye as " they'll pay it no matter what I quote "

Save your skin and never get tattooed by Demian. I am covered in tattoos and the 2 he did for me were too deep, healed terribly, massive blowout, and both needed to be reworked by someone who knows what they're doing.

This review is so MIXED! The place was very welcoming and immaculately CLEAN! Went in with my BFF to get matching Ladybug tatts. The process was easy, and very sanitary. Now here's where the "mix" comes in at. The guy that did my tattoo dug EXTREMELY DEEP into my arm...with the outline and MAINLY the red coloring. I noticed it hurt a LOT more than one I had done on my right wrist but just thought "different artist...different tensions". This tattoo is horrible! I got it done on 7/31/2015 and TODAY (9/8/2015) it still isn't healed, constantly grows a scab in the red body part and looks like a dark birthmark on my arm. The only way you can see a ladybug is if I put triple antibiotic cream on it and cover it with a gauze pad for 5+ hrs, then once the cream is gone it turns back into a black "bruise" as everyone calls it. I'm extremely disappointed can I came a long way just be this place had good reviews. $60 gone...big black mark on my arm and now I still have to get a ladybug done again to match my BFF. Hers looks a little better than mine but not much. She's from Philly and we got these done while she visited (we actually got them done ON her birthday). Great place they just need to be more gentle

I was in and out of there in under thirty minutes. They were able to make what I wanted and I had a great time! Matty did mine and it was reasonably priced. I will definitely be back.

My tattoo only took 25 min. It was definitely rushed. The ink has already started to fade and the shading is almost gone entirely. This was my third tattoo, so I'm well aware on how to treat a tattoo.

Stopped in to get a tattoo, but thought it was to expensive, and not all that helpful. They may very well do good work, but we will kever know. Across the street LIBERTY was everything we could have asked for and more. Not 50 feet away. Go to liberty.
