Southern Star Tattoo

Went here to twice to get a matching his and hers tattoo. The first tattoo is a disaster. It's still swollen as I'm typing this review. I have over thirty tattoos so I know how a tattoo is suppose to feel and look like a couple days after. This tattoo in particular has my whole ankle and the bottom part of my leg looking like it's about to pop!!!! I can't stand on my foot at all!!!!! And they're over priced!!! When I pay for a tattoo I go BIG!!!! They charged a hundred bucks for a heart missing a puzzle piece which looks like shi*. And the tattoo is small!!!! My fiance and I went back for another matching his and hers but different artists did our's this time. That particular piece is healing fine. But again I must say they are high. Liberty tattoo which is across the street said they would do the matching set for one fifty a piece. The only reason we didn't go there is because they were on their last two customers. I've been to Liberty several times and loved their work. Should've just went to them the next day as we had planned. I will never let that particular artist from Southern tattoo ink me again.

Morgan did a rib cover-up piece for me and went above and beyond my expectations. Absolutely incredible artist with amazing attention to detail and gives 200% of his own effort to make a piece come to life. He even stayed with me until 2AM to finish it all in one session! It’s been a few months and I’m still absolutely in love with it :) will definitely be back.

Always the best possible experience here... Southern Star communicates consistently with you from setting an appointment til u entering the shop to be tattooed...Very personable and friendly staff including artists and support staff... Eric inked me and my best bud and he and Jorge asked both of us exactly what we wanted and checked the accuracy of the dates buddy wanted twice to make sure all was correct... Eric asked for the image I wanted and he took several pictures I brought him and sketched out the image to highlight the most important features and to make it fit in the space that I wanted it applied.... Just a great experience... And I am entering Year 13 of being Eric's client, that speaks volumes about the quality of the work at SST......

Such a bag experience. The work was beautiful and the place is nice, clean etc but the guys who “helped” me were terrible. I went in for my first tattoo, not knowing a lot, hoping I could learn something. I now know I was SEVERELY overcharged and they were cold towards me the entire time. I got a simple line of text on my outer thigh, no longer than 9 inches in length and was charged $120. I have since found out after consulting with other artists that that price is INSANE. My artist would hardly speak to me and when he did was very short and impatient. I tried my best to be open to any advice and polite and it was just a terrible experience. Dont waste your time here. Theyre just interested in squeezing money out of you.

People sometimes get intimidated when they walk into a tattoo shop; I know I have. Every time I've been to Southern Star someone has greeted me and asked how they could help. I ended up talking with Demian and getting a large (for me) piece done on my chest. He heard my idea, drew it on paper and inked it over a few sessions. The location was great, clean and everyone I saw come in the shop was acknowledged and helped.

I've got more ideas and will definitely go back. Atlanta has a few really great shops and Southern Star is one of them.

Andrew is a fantastic artist! I’m very happy with the work he did. Everyone at Sourhern Star was so much fun to hang out with while I was there, and I would recommend this place to anyone wanting something of quality done.

Great place. Tattoo exactly what I wanted along with artist expertise. Not a very long wait. Not too painful. Beautiful art.

Went to the shop on my birthday to get a atlanta falcon tattoo, was told the size of the tattoo couldnt be done and if i wanted the tattoo I would have to get it bigger. I explained several times I did not want it that large and could he recommend something else. After walking away several times and not communicating at all he comes back like yea i won't be able to do it small it has to be lie 4x that size. Keep in mind i was only wanting 2.5 inches. I was even willing to change my design and location just so I could get a tattoo. Needless to say I left without a tattoo, if i was his boss I would be very disappointed that he let money walk out the door especially when the customer was will to compromise to whatever he felt would be best. I went down the street and got the tattoo I wanted and it looks great. Poor service. I wish I remember his name. Very much an ass. Was there the night of 1/22 around midnight.

When I found SS I never wanted to go to another place. It’s the best atmosphere ever. They make you feel super welcome and respond to any email or phone call promptly. They will be 100% honest with what they can and cannot do and work with you accordingly. Bill is who I go to. Great conversation amazing work and Quality and professionalism.

I went this past weekend to get my first tattoo. Everyone was extremely nice! My tattoo turned out perfectly and I couldn't be happier! I will be going back to this place to get more work done for sure.
