My friend and I were spending the last day of our trip to Colorado in Boulder. I decided that I didn't want to leave without getting a tattoo to remember the whole experience. Even with this being my 5th tattoo, it is always a little nerve wracking choosing an artist spontaneously. The unanimous great reviews for Carlos led me to call him first. He was able to fit me in, and I flew back to Michigan that night with no regrets! His shop was clean and comfortable, and his line work was precise. I will definitely be back to Boulder sometime to get another piece done by Carlos!

Sat with Carlos yesterday. Called ahead, and met him at his studio in Boulder. He spent almost 2 hrs drawing my tattoo, and perfected everything that I wanted done! (Note: please give your artist the courtesy of a consultation as opposed to walking in an expecting a detailed piece done). His area was clean and welcoming, and he had plenty of reading material for me while I waited for him to finish drawing. The tattoo process was easy, and certainly not “pain free” but he paid close attention to my needs and whether or not I was doing ok. Great experience, and supremely happy with the way my tattoo turned out. Thanks Carlos!

I went here for my first EVER tattoo. I had been trying to find the right artist for years.... one day, I saw his work and loved it! I was super nervous, especially since I do public performances as a career..... a permanent fixture requires a big amount of trust!

Carlos is not only talented, he is thoughtful. He texted me in-detail instructions (with pictures) about finding his place... he even helped me with parking! He spent almost 20 min just talking through my design with me. During the big day, he cared about my well-being, down to the music selection, the movie he had on in the background... every detail!

This piece was extremely important to me because it was a symbol of perseverance my mom and I have had for years in relation to her fight against cancer. I always thought I would get some small little thing.... I never thought I would travel over an hour each way to get a fairly large shoulder piece.... I never envisioned the artistic idea that Carlos had before he showed me his interpretation of everything I told him. It is absolutely beautiful and makes me smile every time I look in the mirror. Yeah, it hurt, but Carlos makes you laugh through it. He is always available to ask questions during the healing process. He made me feel like I was a tattoo veteran even though I’m still a complete newbie.

Im from NJ and came here to Modern Classic for a matching tattoo with my best friend as I sadly don’t go to CU Boulder anymore. I have a lot of tattoos and I can honestly say this was the best experience yet. Carlos is a wonderful guy and very personable. His shop was clean and his work was excellent. Carlos went above and beyond for us making sure we were happy with our designs. Great guy, we hardly even noticed we were getting tattooed haha

Carlos was a great artist to work with. We were visiting from another state, and decided to make a last minute decision to get tattoos. We were able to schedule an appointment for the next day. We weren't clear on exactly what we wanted to get, and Carlos took the time to turn our ideas into an image. He made the experience great, and we will definitely be returning next time we visit.

Carlos is an amazing artist and a gifted collaborator. I've worked with him on two pieces, both great experiences.

For the first, he worked with me to add new ink to a ten-year-old tattoo on my upper arm. I came to him with a concept in mind, one that didn't necessary fit with the old ink, but something I had my heart set on. And he took that idea and prototyped some incredible versions, helping me make the decision on how to move forward. I couldn't be more happy with what's resulted, and we're now working toward a full sleeve.

For the second project, I and several of my colleagues at work came in wanting to get related tattoos -- different frames of an animation of a raven -- to celebrate a huge milestone at work. Carlos was so patient and thoughtful, helping to guide each of us to figure out what size and location would work best. We spent the afternoon at his shop, each getting ink in turn, hanging out, watching movies, listening to music. It was a blast.

Carlos is a total professional who I would recommend to anyone looking to get a first tattoo or a twentieth. His artistic sensibilities and patience make working him a stress-free, fun experience. And his work speaks for itself.

I came to Carlos with a rough idea of a tattoo and a lot of first time jitters. He was extremely welcoming, calming, and communicative throughout the entire process from sketching to tattooing. Carlos is incredible!! My friends and I finished a month-long road trip in Boulder and wanted to get tattoos for our last night. Best tattoo place ever. Such a great vibe, very chill, but also very professional. I absolutely love the tattoo and I couldn’t be more excited about it. This tattoo specifically had a lot of meaning behind it and I couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out. Not being from Boulder I spent some time looking into shops and finding the right artist, and I definitely made the right decision. I know some friends that are looking into getting tattoos and I will definitely be recommending Carlos.

Couldn't have asked for a better artist to get my first tattoo from. I have nothing but good things to say about Carlos and his work, hes a super kind person and you can tell that he enjoys tattooing which is something i really appreciate and needed.
I had been searching for tattoo shop for a really long time and went to multiple tattoo shops that didn't give me a good vibe and didn't treat me like a potential client. However, after getting referred by some of my friends and meeting Carlos it was completely different. He really took the time to listen to what I wanted and parts that I couldn't quite put together myself and sketched multiple Ideas for me.
Since it was my first tattoo he walked me through everything I wanted to know. He really makes an effort to make sure i was comfortable, he would put on whatever I wanted to watch or listen to and asked me if I was okay. He didn't tell me to lean for a smaller tattoo as my first tattoo, like other shops and was happy to give me a good size tattoo. I got a tattoo I wanted, to remember my grandma and I get so many compliments from it and almost brought my dad to tears. Am really happy I got this tattoo, thanks Carlos.
