Sat Manav Tattoos

This is the first time that I’ve ever had a tattoo artist be so intentional and thoughtful of what my next tattoo was going to be. Shug is unlike any other tattoo artist I’ve ever met. He spends time to get to know who you are and what it is your looking for. He talks about the healing power that tattoos have and how the artist themselves must be in the right state of mind when tattooing a person, as the energy they emit flows from them into the tattoo as well.
During our sessions we talked about life, how each of us is truly doing and there is a real connection when that takes place. I look forward to all of the work that will take place with Shug in the future.

I was in awe of his skills and professionalism. That combination made this a life changing experience for me.
I had an idea what I wanted for my tattoo but thru meditation, chanting, chatting history, health, travels, and also over food and humor he allowed my full tattoo to be born in a natural and magical way.
Aside from being an artistic master Shug is really good at creating a very safe, welcoming and warm environment.
I was also lucky enough to meet his family, and that made my experience even more special.
I traveled almost 4 hours to see Shug and it was so very worth it, I am grateful our paths crossed. And it’s actually good I live so far away otherwise I would be there every weekend getting a tattoo from Shug!

I just got my first tattoo and I could not have had a better experience. I personally think this is how tattoos should be done. I recommend to EVERYONE that is thinking of getting a tattoo to come here to do it. I have waited for many years to get a tattoo and now I know why, so that I could get it done with Shug. Not only did he take the time to guide me through what tattoo to get but he put in a lot of work on the sketch, and an incredible amount of attention to detail on the tattoo itself. This was my first session and it was a very long one, but through the whole experience Shug guided me through the process and through the pain in a beautiful way. It was a really wonderful spiritual experience that I will carry with me for the rest of my life, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Thank you Shug for this wonderful, spiritual work of art that I get to carry around with me everywhere I go. I truly could not be any happier.

Getting a tattoo is a very personal process. It is important to go to someone who understands this and it becomes very personal to them. That was my experience. Shug has the aura around him that Is very calming. It was a wonderful experience and I would never have had it done if it had not been for Shug. I can’t thank him enough.🙏

My tattoo experience with Shug at Sat Manav Tattoo was more beautiful then I ever could have imagined. I reached out after my sweet kitty companion passed away and I was aching for a way to carry her with me as I walked the rest of my journey. I knew that Shug offered a way to connect to the heart of an idea to manifest something deeply spiritual and in tune. What transpired was a beautiful meditation session of chanting, and calling in a mantra that perfectly captured Saffron’s (my kitty’s) powerful essence and effect on my life. This sacred tattoo was an initiation into a deeper way of connecting to everything in my life and I am eternally grateful for the experience. And the Sanskrit script and Shug’s precise artistic design are so incredibly gorgeous! I am in love with it more and more each day. Thank you Shug!!!

Sat manav tattoo is not just a tattoo. It’s an experience that is tailor made just for you. When you seek an artist like “Shug” there is a whole becoming, an unfolding, if you will of who you are. My experience over 2 years has been phenomenal and “more than I ever expected” experience with the art of tattoo, symbolic images words and intention are an added bonus that weaves into your life beautifull and all are one of a kind. I had been looking my whole life for a tattoo artist of this consciousness and passion. Truly a gift to have him in my own state of Maine. Also visit the Sat Manav Yoga Ashram to have a deeper experience with yogic community!!!! So happy to find my home away from home and “sacred tattoo” artist and dear friend. Truly an amazing experience I recommend to anyone being guided.

Aside from Shug being a phenomenal and divinely gifted artist, he’s the only one I would want on the other end of my being stabbed for several hours at a time! He is patient and present and his hands are steady! He was open to co-creating with me and kind and down to earth. The fact that he has devoted his life to Yoga informs his approach in the best ways. From start to finish, the process was intentional and holy. I can’t imagine ever getting a tattoo from anyone else after having the art of it regarded and approached in the way that this dynamite Yogi does. Endless thanks and Namasté.

Shug was incredibly attentive to my piece especially at the planning stages. We had two long conversations about what I wanted, why I wanted it, what elements were key in the design.

He came up with a great sketch (it is now framed on my wall). It was exactly what we had discussed, but rendered on paper with detail and a lot thought.

The session itself was also wonderful. We had a great conversation and the time passed quickly. I enjoyed the process as much as I enjoy the finished (nearly healed) piece.

awesome experience thru the entire process, from design ideas to execution. the artist is genuinely interested in creating a unique, intentional bond between you and the tattoo and works to help you strengthen that connection. atmosphere was 10/10, from the relaxing music to the gentle scents of palo santo. in casual conversation I ended up learning a lot about tattoos, their history and place in human culture+spirituality. absolutely walked away from the experience with much more than just a tattoo.
