Hands down best tattoo shop and artists in town! You get more than what you pay for here. The atmosphere is great, the artists are amazing.

I've gotten 2 tattoos at Primal Instinct and love them both! The first one Danielles brother, (sorry man, I can't remember your name!), and he did first rate super quality work! Love it! The second tattoo was done by Danielle and I love it too! My good friend Tom and his daughter Emily came to Anchorage summer of 2014 and to celebrate we each got a tattoo, Danielle did mine and Carlos did Tom and Em's tattoo. I'll always remember the great time we had during their visit each time I look at my tattoo.
This shop is run and staffed by great friendly folks and the work they do is just great. It ain't cheap but quality is what you pay for and is what you get! I recommend Primal Instinct to everyone who asks for a great tattoo.

I had Carlos as my tattoo artist, he did an incredible job. I gave him my rough sketch of a design and he just ran with it! Wonderful artist and a great person all around. Would recommend Primal Instinct to anyone looking for a quality tattoo from fun people!

Full honesty; I had communication troubles with the studio in the beginning. I had worked with artists in other mediums before and mistakenly thought that is how the tattoo process would go. However, I have learned and I'd say everything is copacetic.
Shop is clean, organized, artists know what they can and can't do. Will, was straight up, took breaks and ended the session when needed. He was more than happy to explain anything and frankly does kickass work. I have him a rough concept and he produced something far better than I could have ever come up with. I picked up on some inspirations he had incorporated and I'd say was a great bonding moment. He still stabbed me, but whatever.
No pictures to show, I will leave that for Will. I am pleased and would return.

This shop, and its artists are amazing! Not only are they incredibly talented artists, they're great people. This shop makes you feel like family, and the work is simply gorgeous. Their prices are absolutely commensurate with other shops, and the offer a military discount. Besides that, they are scrupulously fair. You will not be charged for time you are not being inked.
Remember, this is Alaska...the cost of living here is 26% higher than the average American city, so if you got ink in Dallas (which is 24% lower coli than the average city), this will be more...just like food and housing are more.
If you want an appointment though, they're booked about eight weeks out...because yes, they are that good.

I was booked in with Laura Craver and she was absolutely amazing. She nailed the concept that I wanted and was so kind and reassuring throughout the tattoo, even when I was whining about the pain, LOL. Highly recommend her to anyone!

It was my first time at this location and I love it! my wife and I Got a tattoo form Chantel her line work was fantastic and she is super chill would defiantly recommend her she also make the whole less painful some how . the whole studio is really relaxed some tattoo artist I have dealt with can have a bad attitude and treated me like I was an inferior class of person not here all the artist and even receptionist rock. very professional , clean and friendly over all it was a very good experience

The work was great, conversation good as well. The price that average $225 an hour not including tip though, I won't be returning or recommending any business that way. My brother got the same tattoo form an artist in Oregon for $150. $340 is a huge jump.... In the past I went to the hole look where Charlie charged $125 an hour.

About a year ago my husband got a nice lettering tattoo done by the girl who works there (I forget her name) but anyways, we loved it and to this day it looks great. We have been talking about getting matching tattoos for a while and thinking our small 6 letter tattoos would be quick and easy for a walk-in we just stopped by today. It was 11:50am and knowing they opened in 10 minutes (noon) we waited... 12 o'clock came around and the sign didn't light up, we continued to wait... 12:15 nothing, finally it was 12:30 and still the sign didn't come on. We were running out of time and had to take our business elsewhere. We left extremely disappointed.
